Market changes in the country have not left the institute aside. From 1992 to the present time, a "belt" of small high-tech
enterprises created by the institute collaborators or with their
direct participation has formed around the IAP RAS.
With the adoption in 2009 of the Federal Law No. 217-FL, restrictions were removed for budget institutions to participate in establishing legal entities. This allowed IAP RAS to be the founder of a number of new innovative enterprises, including
- "Femtosecond laser systems" Ltd. — development of portable fiber-optic lasers. The IAP RAS contribution is the right to use the computer software.
- "Cluster calculation laboratory" Ltd. — development of methods for cluster calculation and calculation of the laser — plasma interaction. The IAP RAS contribution is the right to use the computer software.
- "Surgical and technological laser laboratory" Ltd. — development of compact solid-state lasers for medical and engineering applications. The IAP RAS contribution is the right to use the know-how.
Two enterprises were created in accordance with the Federal Law No. 217-FL and its provisions 244-FL "On the Skolkovo innovation center" for presenting the IAP RAS developments in the Russian counterpart of the Silicon Valley.
- "Center for biomedical and computer technologies" Ltd. — development of biomedical technologies and medical imaging. The IAP RAS contribution is the right to use the computer software and know-how in cooperation with the N. I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (NNSU).
- "AALTEC" Ltd. — development of new types of X-ray radiation sources for medical and engineering applications. The IAP RAS contribution is the right to use the computer software. AALTEC was created in cooperation with the "Radiation and nuclear technologies" company (Moscow).
